She is very obese but her new family is committed to giving her a good diet and exercise to get her to her goal weight. Midge was adopted by the family who adopted Nick so she has a brother to keep her company! |
Josie
Sweet Josie found her way into rescue when her people had to move and couldn't take her along. She is a cute mix of cavalier and papillon! We think Josie had some sad times in her past which left her with some issues and anxiety. She's super sweet and a total cuddle bug. She found her new forever home in Washington State where she has another cavalier/papillon brother and a Great Pyrenees brother. She and panda, the cav/pap, are the best of friends and gets to sleep in a bed at their moms feet while she works! |
Mick-now Nick
Nick came into rescue because his Mom got divorced and had to move. She loved Nick very much and wanted him to find a home with someone home more. He had gained some weight as a result of the changes in his life. But Nick is a total sweetheart who has never met a stranger. Nick found a home with a wonderful couple in Oregon. Nick gets to be a campground host and spend his days walking around the campground and meeting new people! It was a match made in heaven. In his time with them he has lost 8lbs and had lost 3 in foster. So Nick has gone from 38lbs to 27! He has tons of energy and it's obvious he feels so much better! |
Hannah
Hannah came into rescue after her Dad, who loved her very much, had a change in his job and living situation and no longer had the time to give Hannah the attention she deserved. He chose to let her go to rescue to find a home. Hannah is a sweet girl who LOVES everyone she meets, especially kids! She found her forever home with a family in Colorado where she has 2 little girls to play with. It was exactly what she needed! |
Teddy - now Gibby
Teddy came into rescue after his people got a new puppy and decided they no longer wanted him. Poor Teddy had never been to a vet and his teeth had been badly neglected. It was also discovered he is deaf. He ended up losing all of his teeth to periodontal disease. He also had a limp that was caused by his toenail growing into his foot. When they trimmed it they left the nail in his paw pad where it became embedded. Once he healed up from having his teeth pulled and his paw fixed, he is a new dog! He feels much better! His new Dad was looking for a companion and it was a perfect fit! Sweet Teddy follows him around and loves to give kisses. This sweet boy has found his forever home! |
Stella
Poor Stella lived her first 4 years as a breeding dog. When she had a hard delivery on her last litter of puppies and almost didn't make the breeder decided to sell her. A Good Samaritan bought her and released her to rescue so she wouldn't have to go through another difficult pregnancy. She now has a happy life where she gets to hang out with her mom while she works from home and has a human brother to play with! |
Remi
Remi was bounced around a lot in his first year. He went from family to family and none of them knew how to train an energetic young pup. He spent about half of his young life tied up outside. He developed separation anxiety and was given up again, and finally ended up in rescue. He has since been adopted by a cavalier loving family and has a cavalier sister. He finally has his forever home! |
Ella - Now Millie
Ella was turned over to rescue when her family didn't have time for her any more. Ella is a sassy little dog with the silliest personality. She is a diva through and through and has her new mom wrapped around her little paw! She's an only child, and is no doubt glad not to have to share her mom with anyone! |
Flynn - Now Finny
Flynn came from the worst hoarding/backyard breeder situation I have ever seen. He had a horrible life up until now, but thankfully he was released to rescue and got the medical help he needed. Flynn is living the good life now with his mom in California. Flynn is a little fighter, and at least from here on out he will know what it is to be loved. Sadly Finny passed away in October 2015 after not even 2 years of being free. |
Pippin
Pippin was released to rescue because his mom was terribly allergic to him. They had bought him from someone who couldn't keep him because they were evicted from their house. So poor Pippin has been moved around a lot in his 1 1/2 years! But he has remained cheerful and goofy and is still very much a puppy! He came to us a matted mess, but a new haircut made formerly fluffy Pippin a new dog! He has gone to live with a cavalier sister named Molly in Wyoming! |
Parker (now Carter)
Parker is a Cavalier King Charles/Bichon Frise mix. He was released to us by his breeder when he had a serious reaction to his vaccinations and broke out with abscesses all over his neck and ears at just 10 weeks of age. She couldn't afford the vet treatment so turned him over to us so he could get the care he needed. He was diagnosed with puppy dermatitis (puppy strangles) and was put on medication. He had an amazing transformation in just a matter of weeks as his swelling went down and the burst abscesses healed. It was wonderful to watch the once lethargic, sick puppy feel better and start to play and act like a puppy again! He continues to improve in his new home where he lives with his cavalier brother and sister, Bruno and Zoey. |
Boomer - now Jackson
Boomer has had a few homes in his 2 years! His last home was with someone who bought him to breed. After he was used as a stud once, she decided he was too young and energetic. He was adopted by a family in Texas. He settled in there like he had always been part of the family and joined his new mom and dad, brother, sister and 3 cavalier brothers! You can see Jackson on Instagram @cavalierkingdom |
Chester
Chester had a loving family with kids that loved him. But once the kids went to college, his people didn't want him anymore and released him to rescue. Sweet Chester has the most cheerful personality! He was adopted by a family in California and he's living the life as a California boy with his cavalier sister and springer spaniel sister! You can follow his adventures on Instagram @chesterthecav ! |
Reggie - now Mason
Poor Reggie. He lived with the same family for over 4 years, most of it as an outdoor dog. When his mom had to move in with family members with allergies, Reggie had to go. When he came into rescue he was a matted mess and it was discovered that he has a grade 4-5 heart murmur. He was adopted once and returned when the adopter didn't want to spend the time training him. He was adopted out again, but it was discovered he does not get along with cats! After being returned a second time, he was finally adopted by a family with just the right situation for him. His new family has cat allergies! He is doing great in his new FOREVER home! |
2013
Piper - now Pixie
Piper was bought as a puppy by a family who found out they really didn't want a puppy. She was left in a kennel for 8 months before they finally decided they didn't want to keep her. She was very shy and nervous when she first came into foster, but quickly opened up. She has a great, loving family and a cavalier brother! |
Charlie
Charlie was released to us when his family went through some hard times and just didn't have time for an energetic 10 month old puppy. They felt he wasn't getting the attention a young pup needs and wanted what was best for him. This funny little pup found a great home with a couple of human siblings and a cavalier brother! |
Sinaway - now Sim
Sinaway was also a breeder release. He had been moved around from breeder to breeder before finally being released to rescue. He is a super shy boy that is slowly warming up in his new family. He has had a major breakthrough after the family got a baby goat that he is good friends with! |
Abu - now Cooper
Abu was originally a stud dog who was retired and sold as a pet. His person went through some hard times and poor Abu paid for it. He spent a year chained in a backyard, neglected. When he was released into rescue he was so matted he had to be completely shaved down. In foster we found out he didn't get along with other dogs and was adopted to a family with no other pets. His coat has grown back beautifully and he is much loved and happy playing with his human brothers and sisters! |
Kachina (Cheena)
Cheena was also rescued from a backyard breeder situation, with her sister Tutu. She had spent the last year and a half of her life living in an outdoor run having litter after litter of puppies. When she was released to the family who released them to rescue she had ear infections, parasites, rotten teeth and a matted coat. She lives with her people and her cavalier brother and sister! |
Tutu - now Zuzu
Tutu was rescued form a backyard breeder situation with her sister Cheena. She had spent the last year and a half of her life living in an outdoor run with her sister. When she was released to the family that released her to rescue she had ear infections, rotten teeth, and a matted coat. Once all of those things were cleared up she went to live with her new mom and a pack of doggie brothers and sisters! |
Ronnie
Ronnie's was one of the worst cases of neglect I have seen. She was released to us by a backyard breeder after she had her last litter at 8 years of age. She had spent those 8 years on a chain in a back yard. She was underweight and had a patchy coat. She had double ear infections, rotten teeth and overgrown nails. After she was spayed and had her dental and her ear infections taken care of Ronnie went to live at a nursing home, where she is the mascot. She and her cavalier buddy Edison go to work every day to visit with the residents. She gets all the love that she missed out on in her first 8 years of life. |
2010-2012
Dakota - now Lily
Little Lily is a cavalier/cocker mix. Lily came into rescue when her people just didn't want her any more. This was her second family, and she was neglected. She was sent out on a trial adoption and when it didn't work out, her foster family decided to keep her! She has a loving family and a cavalier brother and sister that she keeps in line! |
Barney - now Beau
Barney was left at a shelter because his people moved into an apartment and couldn't keep him. He was very overweight and weighed in at over 38 lbs when we got him. A diet and plenty of play time with his foster brothers brought his weight down to 30 lbs, which was just right for him. Barney is a cute boy with a funny personality who likes to give nose nibbles! Barney has a cute poodle brother that he loves to play with! |
Dobby - now Bentley
Dobby was bounced around a lot in his first 4 years of life. We're not sure how many homes he had been in before we got him, but knew the people that gave him to us had only recently gotten him. They couldn't keep him because his energy level was too high for apartment living. He was adopted by a lady who does a lot of hiking and he has even been to Alaska to hike! It's the perfect lifestyle for this active boy. He has a cavalier sister to share his adventures with! |
Chloe
Chloe was the first adoptee. Her mom got divorced and lost her home. Chloe was 9 years old and the oldest of our rescues. She needed extensive dental work and grooming but was very much loved. She was adopted by an elderly lady that was looking for a lapdog to be her companion. It was a perfect fit! |
Bella - now Cassie
Cassie was our first rescue and ended up being our first foster failure! This poor girl was bounced from home to home, the last one only lasting 3 months. We were the 4th people to have her in a year. We realized after we'd had her a few months that she is almost completely deaf, which was probably part of why she was bounced around so much. With her past and her deafness we just couldn't let her go! |
