Today's Former Foster Feature is Nick and Millie.

Nick (Was Mick) came into rescue as an owner release. His mom got divorced and was unable to give Nick the attention he needed so she did what was best for him and released him to rescue. Due to the changes in his life he had gained a lot of weight and came to us at 38 lbs.

Millie (was Midge) came to us via a local high kill shelter. She ended up in the shelter when her elderly mom and dad could no longer care for her and their son dropped her off at the shelter where she was pulled and transferred to us. Millie was also overweight at almost 30 lbs and extremely fearful.

These two were adopted by the same family who live full time in an RV and were able to give these two lots of exercise, which, combined with a healthy diet, has gotten these two into great shape! Nick has lost a whopping 12 lbs and Millie has lost about 6-7 lbs.

Thank you so much to their wonderful family for working so hard to get these pups healthy and for giving them such a wonderful, loving home!

What a terrific story - way to go Millie and Nick! I also want to say how wonderful I thought it was that you adopted to a family living in an RV full-time. There are so many stories of people who were turned away for adoption due to some small lifestyle infraction. And I would assume finding a rescue who would adopt to you if you spent most of your time in an RV would be difficult. I think everyone's situation is individual and, for the most part, dogs are just happy being with their people. So I applaud both Cavalier Crazy Rescue and the adopting family!

Thanks Jennifer! I believe that each dog and each situation is different and that all situations should be taken on a case by case basis! It's all about what will be best for the dogs!

Violet

Sweet Violet is ready for a forever home of her own!

Violet is a ten year old, 14 lb mini poodle velcro dog. She is very mellow, sweet, loves to cuddle and be loved on all the time, potty trained if on a regular schedule. She is overweight at 14 lbs and needs to lose a few more to be at her ideal weight.

Violet came from a local shelter where her owner left her. She was mostly bald from untreated allergies, and had horrible ear infections, skin infections, rotten teeth and was in a lot of pain from untreated arthritis and luxating patellas. She has been treated for all of her medical issues. Dental, spay, hernia repair and deep ear cleaning. She is on a daily medication (rimadyl)to help with the arthritis, and also takes cosequin supplement for her joints. Violet has quite severe food allergies and is on a limited ingredient diet and a daily allergy medication (apoquel). Her hair is coming back in slowly! Losing the last few pounds will definitely help a lot with her arthritis and luxating patellas.

We don’t know her history but she has separation anxiety that is worse when she’s in a crate, therefore she cannot be crated but does okay in a gated area with toys or treats to chew on. Ideally she wants to be with her people and she needs a home where someone is home much of the time.

She is adorable does great with other mellow dogs and cats! She would do best in a home with at least one mellow dog she can be with when her people are gone, which helps with her anxiety.

Violet LOVES to cuddle and snuggle and likes to be hugged like a big teddy bear. She is the ideal companion for someone who wants a cuddle buddy to binge watch Netflix with!

REQUIREMENTS: Violet needs a home where someone is home most of the time. She needs a home that will keep her on a diet and give her gentle exercise. Her family must be able to provide her with her 2 medications and 1 supplement, along with a limited ingredient diet. Another mellow dog in the home is preferred. No small children, she needs kids old enough to know not to pester her or pick her up a lot. She’s a sweet senior that needs a quiet loving home.
